EarlyAct Activity Ideas

Buddy program: Grade 1 - Grade 7

Blisters for bread: Big-brothers say: "hi, how are you doing" do walks with big/small brothers

Playground

Conflict resolution to be taught to EarlyActors to be put into practice on their own playgrounds

Help with teaching socialisation eg teaching hop-scotch, marbles, games etc... kids do not know about ancient games these days

What will be taught is: tolerance, sharing, caring, respect, taking turns, winning & losing values etc

EarlyActors will become aware of WHY they are doing it

Grandparents

Grandparents day: EarlyActors would welcome, assist and bring grand parents down to younger classes

Value to EarlyActors would teach tolerance, respect, and history of where they come from

This would lead to visiting old-aged homes, seeing people who simply want company and someone to talk to...

Chess

Teach and share with others strategic thinking, and the values of winning and losing

Teach underpriviledged how to play chess

Sport

Collect used / new sport equipment and take this into buddy school where, on the day that sport gets played, the equipment is LEFT there

Food

Teach that food does not really come from Pick n Pay, but rather from the GROUND

EarlyActor outings should include a visit to KEAG (say) who would teach them about perma-culture etc.

Encourage gardening and food growing

Disabled

Anyone within school who is disabled... use your own school to create awareness to help EarlyActors to teach sensitivity for inclusiveness play chess, lego, art with disabled kids

Organise fun frenzy for disabled children

Paired reading / story-telling

Start this in your own school

Take books to your buddy school and present the books by doing an hour of reading with buddy school

Don't chuck out anything, rather offer handouts as a donation

Games

EarlyActors to be taught by buddy school kids, how to play their / other games

Winning & losing

Win/win is way better than someone coming first and the other coming last

ie. teach the winner to be gracious and thankful of opportunity to compete, and teach the worthy opponent how he could also win

Loser thanks winner for the opportunity to compete and learn to win
